Syllabus Rules
Rules have had a formatting change! Some things have been moved into rules that had previously been in the syllabus.

Performing Arts Concert Class
This new class has been created to host two large scholarships: the Holly Sundquist Memorial Scholarship (new this year), as well as the Festival Place Cultural Arts Foundation Scholarship. Accepted entrants in this concert class will be competing for these two significant scholarships. Please see the syllabus for more information.
Choir
The number of members for a choir has been decreased to 8 (from 12).
There is no longer a “Live Community Choir” class at Provincials. Community choirs, that are nominated, will submit a recording for adjudication.
Piano Name Changes
Piano Plan I has been renamed to Piano By Age, and Piano Plan II has been renamed to Piano By Grade. All the age and level requirements have remained the same.
Contemporary Vocal Name Change
Contemporary Vocal has been renamed to Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM). All class names will use CCM in their title.
Vocal Lounge
This is a new class for ages 13 and over. Entrants will perform at a local lounge/restaurant. They will be accompanied by a multi-piece band (provided by SPMFA). The intention of this class is to give performers a more “real word” performance opportunity. Family and friends are encouraged to enjoy the venue’s menu and ambience.
Broadway Solos
Broadway Solo, Ballad and Up-Tempo, have been added to CCM. These classes are for songs from musicals, or movie musicals, that are being adjudicated for vocals only.
Arrangements All Genres
A new class has been added to all instrument disciplines (except guitar). This is for transcriptions, arrangements, and abridged versions of pieces that do not fit another class. This may be for pieces originally written for a different instrument/discipline, or an original arrangement by the performer.
Original Work
A new class has been added to all instrument disciplines. This is for original works, by the performer, where they want to be adjudicated for the performance only. If they want the composition to be adjudicated, they must register in Music Composition.
Musical Theatre Duets
Duets in Musical Theatre are now eligible for Provincial nominations. There are 2 classes at Provindicals: 13 and Under, and 14 and over.
Scholarships
1. Beginner Piano - Most Promising has been added.
2. Vocal Lounge - Best Overall - a special scholarship for performers at the Vocal Lounge
3. Family/Community/Group - Most Promising has been added.
